Ruth Barry

Ruth is our Children & Youth Coordinator with responsibility for the vision and delivery of all the groups and activities available for the young people at St Philip’s from 0yrs to 18yrs.  This includes working with all the dedicated volunteers who lead the Sunday morning groups.

Ruth was already a member of the congregation before starting her role in 2013. In fact it was the strength of the children’s work and St Philip’s strong links with the local community that first brought Ruth, her husband Alistair and their three young children to the church. Before this Ruth was a Parish Assistant for another group of churches in Cambridgeshire.

In Ruth’s own words: “I love my job! The joy of spending time with the young people of our church is immense and to be part of their journey in faith is such a privilege.  Whether it is a conversation at the school gate, a big event, leading a Sunday session or simply hanging out with the youth there is never a moment when I don’t see God at work in their lives – and in mine.

In that elusive thing called free time Ruth enjoys baking, sewing and all things crafty – in fact if the BBC have done a “Great British…” programme about it she probably loves it!
